Dropping bombs like a particle accelarator!

Today, CERN’s Large Hadron Collider fires ups for the first time. 9,000 scientists from over 60 countries hope that the experiments beginning today will reveal some hard facts about the nature of the universe, how it came into being and what this thing called ‘matter’ is really made up of. Of course there is a minimal risk that we could instead create microscopic black holes that could swallow the earth. In honour of the day that’s in it, here’s a cross-over science geek rap by Katie McAlpine (a grad-student at Michigan State University) that’ll tell you all you’ll ever need to know about the LHC and CERN.
