Excavating Homelessness @ Stokes Croft

Here is a recent broadcast from BBC One regarding an application of contemporary archaeology to engage marginalised communities in Stokes Croft in Bristol, England. The team made up of Rachel Kiddey, Cassie Newland and John Schofield excavated Turbo Island, a long-established drinking spot for local homeless in Bristol.

The project causes me to consider what could have been different approaches to the ‘tent city’ community of Fox Point that was recently displaced by the demolition of the Wickenden Street overpass.
