Debbie Zoutewelle | RA

In September 2007, I was fortunate enough to be included in the Stonehenge Riverside Archaeological Project. Assigned with the specific task of producing a photographic documentary of the dig, I set about amalgamating the findings of the archaeologists and the interpretations of the resident artists. The materials and thoughts of these two respective groups could be connected but the action would be different in the use or outcome. These drawings were produced after having observed the development of the line drawings which portrayed the findings of the archaeologists as opposed to a tonal study which an artist would be likely to create.

The Geo-physical drawings that the computers drafted from the survey of the digs had a simplicity of line which connected to the layering principles of the section drawings. I have decided to merge the geographical data with the images to produce a sense of layering.
